Frequently asked questions
What is a Google Forms entry ID?
Every question in a Google Form has a numeric field name such as entry.1924255972. Google uses it in pre-filled links (…/viewform?entry.1924255972=Thandi) and when a response is submitted to …/formResponse. The ID stays the same when you rename the question, but changes if you delete the question and add it again.
How do I find entry IDs without this tool?
In Google Forms, open the ⋮ menu → Get pre-filled link, type a value into each question, click Get link and read the entry.NNN names out of the copied URL. Developers can also open the responder page, view the source and search for FB_PUBLIC_LOAD_DATA_. This tool does the second method for you and lists the question type and title next to each ID.
Why does the tool say the form needs a sign-in?
If a form is restricted to an organisation, limits people to one response, collects verified email addresses or contains a File upload question, Google redirects anonymous visitors to a sign-in page, so the questions can't be read. Those settings also block anonymous submissions to formResponse.
Can I submit responses with a POST request?
Yes, for public forms. Send an application/x-www-form-urlencoded POST to the form's /formResponse address with one entry.N field per answer. Dates are split into entry.N_year, _month and _day, times into _hour and _minute, checkboxes repeat the same entry.N, and multi-page forms also need pageHistory=0,1,…. Only submit to forms you own or have permission to use.
Do you store my form?
No. The form is fetched from Google when you click Find entry IDs, parsed in memory and shown to you. We don't save its questions or the values you type into the pre-filled link builder; the builder runs in your browser. Requests are rate-limited and only appear in short-lived server logs without the form contents.
How do I let people upload files to a Google Form without signing in?
Google's own File upload question always requires a Google Account. NoLoginUpload replaces it with an upload box on a hosted copy of your form: respondents don't sign in, files go straight into your own Google Drive and the answers are submitted to your real Google Form.
